Instrumental, Department of Music
Enhance your skills with personalized instruction from expert faculty.
Instrumental students enjoy a variety of performance opportunities, both as soloists and as members of large and small ensembles including symphony orchestra, concert and athletic bands, jazz ensembles ranging from big bands to combos, and chamber groups in any configuration students can imagine.
Most studios also offer instrument-specific ensembles, providing unique challenges and opportunities for artistic and technical growth. Immersing themselves in a wide range of repertoire ensures that students will become well-rounded musicians and music educators.
Instrumental Area Head
The Department of Music combines the resources and possibilities of a large research university with a department that is both large enough to provide tremendous challenges and experiences and small enough to focus on the individual. Students in the instrumental area enjoy—and sometimes even create—a variety of performance opportunities in ensembles of every size and type, and go on to exciting careers as educators, performers, and in other emerging career paths in our profession. Our experienced and accomplished faculty knows how to guide, nurture, and challenge students to reach their full potential. Come join us!
