Dr. Elodie Tantet is an Instructional Assistant Professor of French in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Mississippi. She is the Director of the Basic French Program.
Research Interests
Dr. Tantet's research interests are in 18th Century French Literature and Franco-Scottish Enlightenment, Spatial and Performing Theories, as well as Second Language Acquisition. She continues her scholarly work in her domain as well as exploring esoterism during the Enlightenment.
Biography
Dr. Tantet is originally from Lyon, France. After studying Linguistics (B.A.) and French as a Foreign and Second Language (M.A.) at the Université Lumière II in Lyon, she continued onto an M.A. in French at the University of Memphis. In 2018, she started her Ph.D. in French at Washington University in St Louis where she specialized in 18th Century literature and certified in Language Instruction. She defended her dissertation entitled "Streetwalkers, to each their own stage: Prostitutes and Philosophers" and graduated in August 2023.
Her teaching interests lie in pedagogy as well as assuring mental health for students. She has been a Mental Health First Aider (with MHA) since 2022.
