Dr. Charles Joukhadar is an Assistant Professor of Arabic in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Mississippi. He teaches as part of the Arabic Language Flagship Program. His specialization is Arabic sociolinguistics and language pedagogy.
Research Interests
Dr. Joukhadar has research interests that include Language Variation and Change, encompassing Quantitative Sociolinguistics, Diglossic Code-Switching, and Language Attitudes. He also focuses on Arabic Language Pedagogy, particularly addressing the challenges of Arabic Diglossia in the classroom and leveraging technology to enhance intercultural competence.
Biography
Dr. Joukhadar holds a Ph.D. in Arabic Sociolinguistics and Second Language Acquisition and Teaching (SLAT) from the University of Arizona and has extensive experience in teaching Arabic as a foreign language. His specialization is Arabic sociolinguistics and language pedagogy. In addition to teaching courses in Arabic language and linguistics, Dr. Joukhadar mentors Ph.D. students specializing in sociolinguistics and applied linguistics, supporting their research and academic growth.
