The Graduate Reading Group group meets for lunch three times over the course of the semester to discuss a book on teaching.

Join the Reading Group

Each semester, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning sponsors a Graduate Reading Group. The group meets three to four times over the course of the semester to discuss the chosen book. We'll provide the book and the lunch; you come with thoughts and questions.

The Graduate Reading Group is now at capacity for Fall 2024, and we are no longer accepting new registrations. If you are interested in being placed on a waitlist for this group, please email Emily Pitts Donahoe at ejdonaho@olemiss.edu.

Check back in January for information about the Spring 2025 Reading Group.

In this 2022 book, Cathy N. Davidson and Christina Katopodis show us how college instruction is stuck in the past—and what we can do about it. Their accessible chapters take research on teaching and learning and transform it into actionable strategies for TAs and instructors at all levels, teaching in any discipline or modality. With an emphasis on active learning, The New College Classroom explains how we might bring our classrooms into the 21st century and ensure our students are prepared for life after college.
