About this Program
The Department of Modern Languages in the College of Liberal Arts offers a minor in TESOL. Learning to teach English as a second language is important in today's world for practical, cultural, and intellectual reasons. Those who have the ability to teach a second language have a clear advantage in many fields, becoming "citizens of the world" in a time when communication with and an understanding of other cultures are paramount.
The TESOL program offers students opportunities to develop their teaching skills and/or prepare for further graduate study.

Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts
As Coordinator of Student Recruitment for the College of Liberal Arts, I work with students, and their parents, who are interested in attending UM for their undergraduate degrees. I coordinate personalized visits to our departments, answer questions about the majors and programs in the CLA and handle all recruitment communications from the CLA. Please feel free to send me any questions you may have.
