About This Program

The Department of Modern Languages in the College of Liberal Arts offers the minor in Italian. Italian is one of the most studied languages in the world and the fourth most studied language in US colleges and high schools.

By taking Italian, students will have the possibility of becoming more familiar with a culture that produced some of the greatest creative geniuses in the history of Western civilization. From Dante and Machiavelli, to Leonardo da Vinci and Galileo, Italians have made significant contributions to our culture. Anyone interested in pursuing a career in music, art, international relations, journalism, literature, or travel and tourism should seriously consider Italian as a language with a variety of opportunities for study and employment.

Students take elementary, intermediate and advanced Italian courses that emphasize the language and culture of Italy. Many study abroad to complete additional courses.
