As Director of the Mississippi Principal Corps, Dr. Braxton Stowe transforms classroom teachers into K-12 leaders who guide children, teachers, and schools to success.

Biography

Dr. Braxton Stowe is the Director of the Mississippi Principal Corps and Clinical Professor of Leadership and Counselor Education in the School of Education at the University of Mississippi. Before assuming his current position, Dr. Stowe served as a high school principal in several communities throughout Mississippi, including Clarksdale, Sardis, Columbia, and Ocean Springs. Under his leadership, each school experienced historical academic growth. Most notably, at Ocean Springs High School, Dr. Stowe has propelled the institution to new heights, earning the prestigious ranking of the #1 high school in Mississippi during the 2023-2024 school year, placing Ocean Springs High School in the top 5% nationally with a 682 national ranking among the 17,655 high schools across the nation. Before his career in school leadership, Dr. Stowe served as a corps member in Teach for America, where he taught for three years in the Mississippi Delta. A proud alumnus of Mississippi State University, Dr. Stowe holds a B.S. in Secondary Education and an M.A. in Public Policy and Administration. During his time at Mississippi State, he excelled both academically and athletically, contributing as a member of the football team, Student Association Vice-President, and Mr. Mississippi State University. Continuing his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Stowe completed the University of Mississippi Principals Corps program, earning an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership, and a Ph.D. in P-12 Leadership from Mississippi State University. A native of Fayette, AL, Dr. Stowe currently resides in Ocean Springs, MS, with his wife, Dr. Carissa Jamison Stowe, and their two-year-old daughter, Calese.
