    Rebekah Heintz is an undergraduate student pursuing a B.S. in Chemistry with a Biochemistry emphasis at the University of Mississippi. In addition to her academic work, Rebekah is an undergraduate researcher in The Tanner Lab, where she is exploring choline carboxylate ionic liquid-coated polymeric nanoparticles as bacterial capture and blood purification devices. She has also contributed to projects on red blood cell hitchhiking and nasal drug delivery. Rebekah presented her nasal drug delivery research at the Southeastern Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society in 2022 and at the Spring 2024 American Chemical Society Conference. Outside of her academic pursuits, Rebekah is active in the Oxford community, participating in the Oxford Community Farmer’s Market, the Flower of Life Food Rescue, and the Grow Club, a nonprofit children’s program. She is a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College and has been recognized on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll. In the summer of 2023, as part of the CEED program, Rebekah interned with the Mississippi Small Business Development Center in Biloxi, MS. In summer 2024, also through the CEED program, she completed a remote internship with s10.AI, an artificial intelligence company focused on integrating AI with Electronic Health Records to reduce physician burnout.
