Why did you choose PPL as your major and what was the appeal of the Lott program?

I chose to major in public policy leadership (PPL) due to my interest in public policy, sparked by my experience as a United States Senate Page for Senator Wicker. The Lott Leadership Institute's personalized approach and commitment to student growth appealed to me. The program's reputation for offering exceptional experiences and opportunities stood out, aligning with my goal of continuous personal and professional development. The Lott Leadership Program's ability to challenge students to reach their full potential made it the ideal choice for me.

What are your career aspirations?

My career aspirations are deeply rooted in my desire to make a meaningful impact in healthcare. Ultimately, I aspire to become a doctor, driven by a passion for healing and serving others. Beyond practicing medicine, I envision myself taking on leadership roles within my profession, particularly in collaboration with the government to enhance healthcare systems and policies. I am motivated to advocate for improved access to quality care, address healthcare disparities, and implement innovative solutions to promote public health and well-being. Through my work, I aim to contribute positively to the health and welfare of individuals and communities, striving to lead by example and inspire positive change in the field of healthcare.

Is there a professor that has been particularly helpful to you?

Dr. Bass has been incredibly helpful to me during my time in the PPL program. Her guidance and support have been invaluable in helping me navigate my academic journey. Dr. Bass not only assisted me in selecting the right classes but also took the time to address all my questions and concerns, making me feel confident and comfortable about my decisions. Her expertise and genuine care for students have made a significant impact on my experience in the program.

What is a particularly meaningful way you have engaged in a community either on or off campus?

One particularly meaningful way I've engaged with my community is through volunteering at Delta Health Alliance's rural community clinic health fairs. These health fairs provide essential services and activities to underserved rural communities, offering free screenings, health education, and resources to improve overall well-being. As a volunteer, I've had the opportunity to directly interact with community members. It's been incredibly rewarding to witness the impact of these health fairs. Through this involvement, I've developed a deeper understanding of the healthcare needs of rural populations and have been inspired to continue contributing to initiatives that address these needs.
